Columbia Neurosurgery Well Represented in NY Magazine’s 2013 ‘Best Doctors’ Issue

Every year, for the last sixteen years, New York Magazine has come out with a ‘Best Doctors’ issue and once again, the Department of Neurosurgery at Columbia University Medical Center/NY Presbyterian Hospital has a terrific showing within their list of recommended physicians.

The June/July 2013 issue includes 1,198 peer selected physicians in the New York Metro Area, who range from family practitioners to a wide variety of specialists. Physicians from this department are listed under the specialty of Neurological Surgery, Neuroradiology, and Radiation Oncology.

The doctors included in the magazine were chosen through a stringent screening and peer-review process developed by the research company Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.. A more expanded version of their recommendations is published in their 2013 Top Doctors: New York Metro Area guidebook.

Below is a listing of physicians from Columbia’s Department of Neurological Surgery along with the subspecialities for which they have been recognized:

Dr. Paul McCormick from the Spine Center–spinal surgery and spinal tumors
Dr. Guy McKhann from the Epilepsy Center–brain tumors and epilepsy
Dr. Richard Anderson from the Pediatric Neurosurgery Center–spinal disorders, spina bifida, peripheral nerve surgery, and pediatric neurosurgery

Neuroradiology:
Dr. Philip Meyers from the Endovascular Center–interventional neuroradiology, endovascular surgery, aneurysm-cerebral, and arteriovenous malformations
Radiation Oncology:
Dr. Steven Isaacson from the Gamma Knife Center–brain tumors, neuro-oncology, stereotactic radiosurgery, and gliomas

Furthermore, New York-Presbyterian Hospital had the most physicians on NY Magazine’s ‘Best Doctors’ list than any other facility in the New York Metro area. You can read more about that here.
